Internship (for Veterinary School Graduates)
PEH offers Internships for veterinary medicine school graduates, which allow new doctors to gain practical skills and expand their knowledge in surgery, anesthesiology, general medicine, ambulatory field care, breeding soundness, general reproduction, lameness evaluation, diagnostic imaging, and alternative therapies. Interns will learn to manage hospitalized patients, routine ambulatory appointments, ambulatory and in house emergencies, and assist with surgery. Many of our previous Internships have transitioned into Associate positions. PEH offers a flexible start date, competitive salary, generous benefits, and a reasonable on-call schedule. Externship (for Veterinary School and Veterinary Technician Students)
PEH offers Externships for veterinary school and veterinary technician students, which provides real world experience in a well-rounded equine practice. This program allows students to gain hands-on experience in all fields of equine medicine. This program was created with the mission to provide a platform for veterinary and veterinary technician students to apply their clinical knowledge in a practical veterinary setting. This is a great opportunity to build long term relationships that may potentially lead to future Fellowships, Internships, Associate positions, and/or employment opportunities at PEH. Shadow (for High School and Undergraduate Students)
PEH offers Shadow Experiences for high school and undergraduate students who are interested in learning more about equine medicine. In this program, there are opportunities to attend morning rounds, observe surgeries, observe emergencies, attend ambulatory appointments, and work side by side with our experienced technicians and doctors. Program details are designed on an individual basis, depending on interests and experience of each student. Please see the links below for more details.
